Most couples spend 8 to 10 hours apart each day. So, how do we stay connected? How do we feel that we are “with” each other even when we’re apart? Let me suggest an exercise that will get you re-connected in one week. Each day dedicate 20 minutes to a debriefing conference. He takes 5 minutes and tells everything he can about what happened in his life today. Then, she gets 5 minutes to do the same.

Round two is a repeat of round one. In the second 5 minutes you pull out details you forgot in the first round and perhaps throw in a few of your “feelings”. “I felt angry when I realized what my boss had done.” Try these debriefing conferences for one week and you’ll likely feel re-connected.
